Weekly Worship Services
Sunday mornings: 9 am Traditional Service
Our central worship service of the week centers on the proclamation of Holy Scripture through preaching, reading and a wide variety of choral, solo and instrumental music. Nursery care and the Celebration Station activity program for children are also available.
Sunday mornings: 10 am Sunday School
St. John's Church offers adult and children Sunday school. More information can be found on our Christian Education Page.
Sunday Morning: 11 am Contemporary Service
Wednesdays at noon:
The Largest Table includes a 20-minute service with communion starting at 12 noon. It consists of hymns, a reading from Scripture and a short reflection based on that reading. A community lunch, with freewill offering, follows.
Candlelight Evening Prayer with music in the style of Taizé
St John's hosts a meditative candlelight evening service of prayer in the style of the Taizé community in France September through April, usually on the first Thursday of the month.

What to expect if you are new to St. John’s Church and attend a 9 am Traditional Sunday Worship Service:
The traditional worship service at St. John’s Church starts at 9 am. Bulletins are available in the back of the sanctuary. There are large print editions of the bulletin available. The service follows the order printed in the bulletin. Feel free to sit anywhere in the sanctuary. The order of the service, the singing, and speaking parts are well detailed in the bulletin. The congregation’s part is always printed in bold text. Hymns are printed in the bulletin or are from the red hymnals or black hymnals located throughout the sanctuary. There are several portions of the service in which you are encouraged to participate, please greet other church members during the Passing of the Peace, during Joys and Concerns feel free to announce any trial, tribulation, concern, or blessing. Children can remain with their family throughout the service or attend Celebration Station in our Continuing Education Building. We have teens available for child care in Celebration Station. A service is centered on two lessons from the Bible. The sermon is delivered by Pastor Virginia Lohmann Bauman (Pastor Gini). Pastor Gini follows the Lectionary and always has a thought provoking, touching, original sermon. The worship service ends with music after the Benediction. People are encouraged to remain in their seats until the music ends. Pastor Gini typically greets people on their way out of the church. Typical services last an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. All are invited to partake of the sacraments.
